Are You Wearing Your Contacts Correctly?

I've worn contact lenses for decades, but I have to admit, I do not always handle them properly. Properly handling and cleaning are critical for eye health. Here are some tips from the American Optometric Association to help avoid eye damage.

  • First and foremost,  always follow your doctor's instructions;
  • Wash and dry hands before touching your contact lenses;
  • Clean your contacts regularly - and if you wear disposables, follow your doctor's instructions on changing them out and replacing them;
  • Do not use tap water to clean your lenses;
  • Use only fresh solution for cleaning and storing your lenses;
  • Keep your contact lenses out of your mouth.
